Carl Zeiss Jena MC Flektogon 35mm f2.4

Carl Zeiss MC Flektogon 35mm f2.4

If asked to choose a desert island vintage prime lens that could do pretty much everything, from wide to portrait to quasi macro, I am pretty sure a lot of people would pick the Zeiss Flektogon MC 35mm f2.4.

This lens has reached cult status also thanks to the work of street photographer Joel Meyerovitz but technically, it's an optic that is coming really close to perfection, because it's a 35mm that gives us the sharpness of a modern optic right from its wider aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 0.20m. It can basically do anything you throw at it, except perhaps specific tasks only left to wider lenses or telephotos.

The Flektogon does not have any quirky rendering traits like the Mir-1 for example, its main strengths are versatility and outstanding sharpness, with a good, pleasant background blur.

Why use the Flektogon 35mm f2.4:

1) The most versatile v35mm vintage lens

2) The sharpest vintage 35mm vintage lens

3) Colors and contrast in black and white

4) Close focusing distance of 0.2 meters

5) Multi coated

6) Smooth background blur

Weaknesses:

The construction material of the lens is fragile, it can easily bend if accidentally dropped, rendering the lens unusable.
